Review of Anger Management (2003) by Shirley N — 17 Apr 2011
"Sarcasm is anger's ugly cousin... from now on, unacceptable.".
Synopsis: Dave Buznik finds himself in anger management counseling after a dispute on an airplane.
Anger management is infuriating, and I don't mean that the film cleverly makes you angry in an attempt at some sociopolitical message. The film feels that building it's story arch around increasingly more preposterous situations is a good way to sustain the audience's sympathy, it isn't. The two lead star's talents are wasted as the film will have you considering anger management yourself with it's frustrating scenarios that completely defy logic and reality.
The ending was the only part of the film that I actually enjoyed, as it soothes much of the unbelievability of the film's prior proceedings and insures that you don't walk away from the viewing with a bad taste in your mouth, but the even that is nothing more than sentimentality that doesn't erase the feeling that you just wasted an hour and forty-five minutes of your life.
Though Anger Management has some good qualities, (it provides a few chuckles, and is well produced), the star studded cast can't save the film from making you want to chuck your breakfast across the kitchen.
