Review of Angels with Dirty Faces (1938) by Daniel M — 12 Aug 2010
Whaddya Hear? Whaddya Say?
I Say a pretty damn good movie. Its a little hard for anyone after the Godfather generation to see a gangster movie that is so light hearted and surprisingly this one was until the very end. Im sure for the time it was a crowd pleasing ending. But I didn't want to see it go that last mile.
I won't give away anything else. Cagney and O'Brien showed why they made NINE movies together and The Dead End Kids were immensely entertaining. Its just you look at the cover and that famous shot of Cagney and I was expecting something a lot darker than what I got.
