Review of Angels with Dirty Faces (1938) by Kat K — 23 Nov 2009

Perfect. The more I see this movie, the more I love it. Although James wasn't a fan of the gangster movie sub-genre, damn was he good at it. What I love most about his career and this movie is that he always tries to make his characters somewhat likable, even if the character is, on paper, pretty deplorable. No, there's something to like. He's quirky and sarcastic, but Rocky's got a little humanity in him. Did he go yella? I say he did it for his friend... We'll never know.

Mega-star cast, quick and edgy, and a timeless classic. Buy this movie! No collection should be without it.
