Review of Angels in the Outfield (1994) by Nathan C — 08 Sep 2011
An alright family fantasy, but nothing spectacular. It's not the greatest sports flick nor is it truly inspiring, but if you let yourself enjoy it, it manages to be good late-night viewing. Sure, the subplot involving the little kid trying to find a family (after his douchey dad leaves him in the dust) doesn't really hold up today, and it's cliched as hell; however, this was really good stuff back in the days of childhood.
Who knew that some moments were still funny? Dated CG is fun to watch, and the heartwarmyness is slightly effective. And Christopher Lloyd and Danny Glover do their best with the material. It's certainly no "Field of Dreams", but if it makes kids happy, then I'm happy.
