Review of Angela's Ashes (1999) by Newton W — 23 May 2009
I read the book before watching this, so I'm partial to the book of course. And because I read the book, I feel that they left too much out. And granted, there's a lot going on, but I don't think they really captured the severity of the alcoholic father, or the utter simplicity of their lives, or not having food and going to bed hungry (where toast was a big deal), etc.
Otherwise, it wasn't bad.
