Review of Angel Heart (1987) by Sean B — 21 Nov 2008

This is one of those movies whose goal is to get you to the ending. In my estimations, that is always a gamble, because if the audience doesn't like the ending, they find the whole movie worthless.

While I enjoyed most of the ride, I was extremely disappointed by the ending. Extremely. In fact, five minutes after the movie had ended, I rewrote the ending to make me happy. The imagery was surreal and otherworldly, some of which will give me nightmares in years to come, but the movie was poorly organized given its assumable goal: to blow your mind at the end.

There is an amazing movie in here somewhere; this isn't it.
