Review of Angel Heart (1987) by Adnan A — 27 Jun 2009
Didn't turn out to be as appealing as the talented duo of Rourke & De Niro made it out to be. Although I liked the whole black magic element thrown into this detective tale, which eventually made things interesting. However, it was not enough to redeem the movie for me. It had way too many run-on scenes which left the movie experience flat. Even the twist at the end does not add to the movie I felt (Devil's Advocate was much better if we talk about similar edings). It actually took it away from the realism it projected (those glowing eyes really felt out of place).
However, I gotta say this was among Rourke's best performances and De Niro did a good job despite his limited role.
Overall, a decent one time watch.
