Review of Angel Heart (1987) by Shawn-Ray M — 04 Jul 2009
Hard-Boiled Noir Horror is the name of the game. Angel Heart is an amazing mind fuck of a movie that features a young Mickey Rourke showing us why he's so awesome, Robert De Niro being mysterious and creepy, and a story that's buried deep in the voodoo mysticism of the deep south Louisiana.
There's so much symbolism in this movie it isn't even funny, but it all serves a point, and comes together beautifully, and like a punch to the stomach, in the end. They don't make movies like this anymore.
