Review of Angel Heart (1987) by Will H — 28 Mar 2011
You can fool many people but not the devil...
Allan Parker combines perfectly Faust mythology with noir atmosphere giving a thrilling result.
Scenes play between dream and reality creating a dark and obscure atmosphere. Beautiful score combining rhythm 'n' blues with jazz. A well crafted film from a time where cinema was not based in cheap scares but in quality work.
The last scene where Rourke is going down(to hell??) in an elevator with the background sound of a melancholic jazz music is one of my favourite!
