Review of Angel-A (2005) by Betty T — 13 Dec 2007
I honesty think of this as the film to watch if you've ever wanted to kill yourself.
There are so many good and so few bad things about this movie. Rasmussen and Debbouze have a wonderful chemistry but I never quite believed that they could be in love with eachother. In a way, it was as though she was his psychologist and it would have felt truer to me if their relationship hadn't moved past that point. Still, this is a very funny movie. It's also quite poignant at times because Debbouze's character moves from jumping off a bridge to realising that there is good in himself and that he is worthy of being loved.
It's imperfect but the message is so powerful that it deserves to be recognised as a fantastic film.
