Review of And the Ship Sails On (1983) by Vidal H — 14 Jul 2008
I'm incredibly biased when it comes to Fellini, as I love his works almost blindingly because they just make me feel so happy and euphoric after watching them, to the point that I don't like to criticize them.
Which isn't to say I don't have my criticisms of some of his works, but I do like to keep them under wraps as my admiration of them always wins out. And the Ships Sails On is one such film of his that had me smiling pretty much from start to finish.
Imaginative, eccentric, with sentimental but heartwarming characters who are flawed, yes, but great fun to watch and like as the completely fictional but endearing characters they are. It's just a wonderful, marvelous, gorgeous film.
