Review of And Soon the Darkness (2010) by Tim W — 14 Jan 2011
It's not an exceptional thriller and that's a fact but what differs this film from the other films of its genre is the relationship between the two best friends.
Amber Heard who plays Stephanie and Odette Yustman who plays Elle did an amazing job on putting what you call a hook. The main reason why they went on a vacation wasn't said out loud but it's easy for you to find out all throughout the film.
So the story is as simple as two friends on their last day vacation in Argentina. The next day, they were on their way back home but missed the bus so they re-booked their flight and a few moments after that they got into a small argument and that's when Steph walked out on Elle. Elle was abducted by the guy she flirted with the other night. Steph looked for Elle with the help of Michael who also has a girlfriend missing. When Steph finally found Elle, something happened and then Elle bumped her head and she died. Steph found out that the police in town is the master mind of this all. Then Michael was killed and now Steph is the one abducted and then she found a way to escape and killed the police and that's it!
It's just an easy film that's not heavy but have a certain impact. It's a 6/10.
