Review of And So It Goes (2014) by Kim W — 16 Jul 2014
Just saw the preview last night and sadly this is a mess. While Keaton and Douglas have good chemistry, something about this movie seems not to work. It feels like a made for t.v. movie with the truncated and quickly wrapped and predicted storyline.
The other characters never get to develop and feel like chess pieces placed in to make this vehicle all Keaton and Douglas. The granddaughter and son are played well, but again feels like we don't get to know their stories.
A scene with a baby being born and named after Douglas are awkward and not believable. Also some horrific scenes visiting drug addicts at very real flop houses need to just be cut. They didn't belong in this comedy at all.
Very odd. Loved Rob Reiner in this though and the choice of Judy Collins' music.Diane Keaton's singing also good. Felt sadly low-budget.
