Review of And So It Goes (2014) by Keith G — 29 Jul 2014
Once again, I think the critics are overly harsh in their opinions. And, I believe the users are closer to representing an accurate assessment.
Overall, this is a movie that I would describe as a "time filler." Douglas and Sarandon are excellent actors, but they need good script writing and a storyline that connects. They, unfortunately, had neither of these.
But, despite those challenges, these two actors held the movie together. The plot breaks are observable and obvious, they involve Oren's (Douglas) son arriving on the scene and then having to wait to get a download of backstory from someone that only begins to allow the audience to understand.
Then, we have Leah (Sarandon) having sex with Oren, then breaking down into tears, and running from the bed to hide in the bathroom. Why? Oren's a jerk? Okay, I got it, but there's soooo much that's left in a misty cloud of fog...one could assume he just didn't care for the experience. Or, maybe she was experiencing guilt because of her deep love for her life partner who died. I mean really, Oren is angry and bitter. Leah is lost and heart broken. How do these two connect in less than 20 minutes on the screen that leads them to a moment of intimacy?
With all of that said, it's still a movie worth seeing if you don't have anything else pressing to do.
