Touching film, especially for older audiences or anyone who has lost a loved one. Even though grief can seem all encompassing, this jewel of a film serves as a poignant reminder that life can continue to have meaning and purpose despite loss, and that love can find us when we least expect it. This is no action film; like the metamorphosis of the caterpillar into butterfly, the pace is slow and deliberate, and just as rewarding.

Michael Douglas and Diane Keaton turn in stellar performances. Sterling Jerins is off to a good start as an actress, neither over-playing nor under-playing her role.

I would have appreciated more development of the deceased spouses of the lead characters as the film felt incomplete, as is. Whether this was the result of a poor screen play, poor direction, or an effort to cut costs, I felt cheated, which is a said note on which to end an, otherwise, great film.
