Review of ...And Justice for All (1979) by Nikolaj Z — 19 May 2009
Outstanding film.
While primarily a drama, the film did have quite a few hilarious moments, bordering on a complete comedy film. Jeffery Tambor is a prime example. Jack Warden as Judge Rayford is another. Total black humor in his case.
Real life situations, things that most screenwriters tend to discard or overlook, flow very nicely through the story without being boring.
Not to say that this was by any means a masterpiece, few films nowadays even scratch the surface of story writing that exists in this film.
Nowadays everybody is in such a hurry, needing the "quick fix", instead of just sitting back, relaxing and thinking about what is being said.
Especially with this film. Being made many years ago, some of the same problems sadly still exist in our judicial system.
Oh, and Pacino is good also. :P.
But you already knew this.
