Review of Anchors Aweigh (1945) by Ben C — 23 May 2009
An above average musical with a lot of variety and material that is still humorous today. The cast as a whole works very well, but you have to admire the amazing talent of Gene Kelly on display throughout the film.
Seeing someone who can act, sing, and dance all at once is quite an accomplishment compared to modern day actors who can usually only do the first to varying degrees of success. This musical definitely set the tone for musicals that followed it.
