Review of Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004) by Ryan K — 08 May 2013
Truly a hard comedy to critique, how funny can a movie be? You forget that you are actually watching a movie attempting a plot when it is so constantly humorous. There is no attempt to be something more then a laugh to laugh slapstick comedy besides possibly the occasional hopeful "aww".
Seeing this movie over a dozen times you still forget every line is trying to be comical and in the end it is incredible how rarely it fails. A perfect example of why Ferrell is the comic actor of the 21st century.
"Burgundy" is the perfect egotistical moron in need of being taught true love, which is not easy to be so enjoyable after being used hundreds of times. Carell had to be the most immature portion of an unbelievably immature film and still can make people of any sort laugh, proof that stupidity at its finest will always work.
I am not usually critical of other viewers but to any writer calling this movie anything but what it is, a consistently hilarious film, screw you, ease up and observe a frame to frame future comedy classic.
Only negative to mention is its obvious lack of plot.
