Review of Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004) by Lyle M — 24 Nov 2013
The actors take Anchorman and work it so that it perhaps becomes a much better comedy than it has any right being, with it's cliched and mildly sexist premise spawning a pop culture sensation.
The comic cast is superb, led by Will Ferrell, with David Koechner, Steve Carrell, Paul Rudd and Christina Applegate joined by smaller roles to Fred Willard, Vince Vaughn, Danny Trejo, Jack Black, Tim Robbins, Luke Wilson, Ben Stiller and Seth Rogen.
This combines with some memorable dialogue (some of it, such as "I love lamp" and "Well, that escalated quickly" have turned into Internet memes in their own right) turn this into a very funny film, although I rank it well below "The Other Guys" in terms of Ferrell's comedic repertoire.
