Review of Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues (2013) by Yesandrewdotcom — 19 Dec 2013
Truly disappointing. Sure, there are some laughs---even a few really big laughs. But not nearly as many as the original film. The bits run on too long (including a fight scene near the end that should've been about 10% as long as it was), the characters' motivations are sometimes a mystery, and the plot is convoluted and shallow.
I think McKay, et al, had far too many years to think about this movie---and so they tried to cram into it everything they could. The result is a sometimes funny, usually unfunny, bloated mess. I suspect it'll grow more charm upon a second or third viewing, but even then it won't come close to matching the original's genius.
