Jimmy Stewart gives one of his career best performance in this intense courtroom drama about a country lawyer defending a soldier who shot and killed the man who raped his wife. Stewart is supported by a fantastic supporting cast and superb direction from Preminger.
From the kick-ass opening credits set to the music of Duke Ellington to it's nifty final shot of a woman's shoe seductively placed onto a trash bin, the film really hooks you and never lets you go.
