In one of AFI's Ten Top Ten, Anatomy of a Murder shows a self described country lawyer, played by Jimmy Stewart, outwit a tough city prosecutor (a young George C. Scott). Based on a true story, the two and a half hour movie moves quite fast with extensive courtroom scenes.
The movie touches on some frank topics (well, for the fifties ...) with directness and works well to bring up ethical and moral issues that define what is right or wrong.
The icing on the cake is the extensive jazz soundtrack composed by Duke Ellington (who has a minor cameo appearance).
