Review of Anatomy of a Murder (1959) by Latricia O — 18 Jul 2009
This b & w court case movie is one of the best of this genre I have ever seen. The story, the flow and the court room to and fro were all thrilling. Talk about opposites, James Stewart with his charming drawl and George Scott with his quick sharp staccato questioning, set this movie apart. In fact all the characters came across as being real people. This is most unusual for Hollywood. Imagine, a movie where you can hear every word spoken.
I don't know where the idea that mumbling is the best way to show dialogue came from, possibly the first method actors. However, it didn't work.
Anatomy Of A Murder was so interesting, the over 2hours length, a bit like Shindler's List, just sped by.
