The main quality of the movie lies in its beautiful on-location filming and the unbelievably precise acting skills shown by James Stewart, Ben Gazzara and Georbge C. Scott. It's spellbinding in its masterfully crafted storyline, depicting a hard case with all the necessary details.
And the music (and cameo) by Duke Ellington is simply stunning.
