Review of Anatomy of a Murder (1959) by Kelvin K — 04 Oct 2012
Otto Preminger's hugely successful film both critically and realistically, it was one of the most important taboo breakers in film, openly using the word 'bitch', discussions of sex and rape, all necessary points in the story.
Realistic in the courtroom settings and also the way evidence and testimonies are gathered, "Anatomy of a Murder" is still the pinnacle of what a trial movie should be, and is still shown in law schools as the truest form of the justice system on film.
But as boring as courtrooms can be, Preminger makes sure to keep in very interesting for the viewer, even with the nearly 3 hour length.
