Review of Analyze This (1999) by Jay L — 29 Mar 2011
"When I got into family therapy, this is not the family I had in mind.".
Director Harold Ramis' action comedy Analyze This is hysterical and bombastic fun. It's a mafia spoof film that doesn't take itself too seriously, nor should it. Just the concept alone is laugh out loud funny. A psychiatrist helps a New York mafia boss get in touch with his inner feelings. I mean that's good stuff folks. Gut-busting laugh out loud fun in every frame, a great time all around. Plenty of bullets, made men, spaghetti, and headache inducing laughter to go around for quite awhile.
Robert Deniro stars, and once again flexes his comedic muscles. This guy is an all around actor, put him in a film and watch him go to work. The man is a true legend in my book. Billy Crystal co-stars and has some great awkward chemistry with Deniro. The two pull off a great comedy here working off of each other wonderfully. Lisa Kudrow is marvelous as well.
