Review of Anaconda (1997) by Nived N — 19 Mar 2010
''Anaconda'' directed by LUIS LLOSA is a cheesy yet engaging film. A team of Film-makers of arrives in Brazil to document the long-lost Indian tribes in Amazon river. However they're voyage turns into a miserable nightmare after having encountered the world's heaviest snakes 'Ananconda'. A terror is created where they have to be cautious throughout.
I like one thing about Hollywood, When such animal-oriented films are made, Even if the story falters there is always a thrilling moments which hooks you completely thanks to the inconsistent but seldom-dragging screenplay. It's unpredictable since u don't you what would happen, who will be the next victim of this ferocious animal?, ur heart-beat goes on increasing as u develop curiosity every now and then Climax is the best part where a female anaconda (females are dangerous than male breeds) arrives.
There is a scene in climax where Jon Voight, who plays the menacing Paragauyan snake poacher gets engulfed by the snake and later is vomited out, very cringing scene still a well-written scene. The special effects .i.e the snakes looks so real and imaginative. The Photography is so etheral, Amazon is one of my dream place but since it is equally haunting and dangerous I can't think of it, the locales are beautifully captured. In acting department, the actors who successfully make a mark is JENNIFER LOPEZ , ICE-CUBE & JON VOIGHT. The latter delivers a daring performance, u actually hate him when he appears on screen.
Overall, ANACONDA is a hardest film ever made, it's crazy, funny with gruesome imagination. Do watch it.!!!!!!
