Review of An Unfinished Life (2005) by Eric R — 02 Sep 2007
Sometimes, it takes a film to remind us that art can be a reflection of life. An Unfinished Life is such a film; there is nothing staged and contrived - nothing Hollywood. I love the realism of the characters and the touching story that embraces them; one really has a feeling that he or she is peeking into lives of very ordinary people who are confronted with an extraordinary dilemma. I always try to be as vague as possible about what happens in the films I blog about, so I feel that it's quite safe to say, without really giving anything away, that the movie ends with some of the crises solved but like everyday life, some things remain tangled and unanswered.
There is one general lesson the film imparts on us; that it's one thing to learn to live with your demons, but it's completely another thing to finally confront them.
