Review of An Unfinished Life (2005) by Vicky V — 11 Mar 2008
Sometimes casting is really dead on, like Keanu Reeves in Bill and Ted or Courtney Love in The People vs. Larry Flint, and then there's casting that is too dead on, like putting people in roles they've played too often, like this one.
Jlo is a battered woman, Redford her gruff and closed off father-in-law, and Freeman the wise friend who always tells it like it is.... hey, and Josh Lucas as the smilin', country sheriff. The story is adequate and Hallstrom is a brilliant director but we don't really see anything we haven't already seen many a time before.
