It is perhaps the fault of the plot; from the start to the end I was very distracted by the fact that I believe Tom Cruise to be a more suitable Zack Mayo in this film. The transformation from a self-centered misfit to a very compelling character? That must have been Cruise! (Of course, considering the date of the release.
..).
