While ultimately, the above listed keywords may become true, I wouldn't describe the film as a whole as "charming" or "pleasant." There is a bit too much of an underlying understanding that something is going to go wrong.

And even if nothing had gone wrong we still aren't rooting for David and Jenny as a couple (the age thing, the lies and thievery, her unraveling education, and...). But with that said, it certainly is still a quality film.

I appreciate that it doesn't need to be over-the-top dramatic to tell an interesting and powerful story.
