Even though this story takes place around 60s, the topic is not that old eve though I first thought so. Should a woman get married or choose an education? Thank god women can choose both nowadays...but, the story seems to say: rely on your education because men lie.
Sad, but it makes sense to me. It is funny when the girl's dad says to her: "Oxford is the more expensive option for dancing" (when his daughter wants to have fun and go to jazz clubs and wonders why to study at all because she could marry a rich man and have fun.
..).
