Review of An Education (2009) by Keith G — 09 Feb 2011
A smart, and touching drama. Carey Mulligan's performance is excellent and while Sandra Bullock was good in "The Blind Side", Mulligan should have ran away with the Best Actress Oscar. Alfred Molina gives one of his best performances as her stubborn but loving father.
The early 1960's Europe is beautiful on screen mainly due to some strong camera work and nice locations. The screenplay wonderfully relays the story of a 16 year old girl who learns the realities of life the hard way.
This is an amazing film and even though it does make you uncomfortable at times, it's still one of the better films of 2009.
