Review of An Education (2009) by Dan B — 12 Apr 2011
A charming film with a lot of humanity, owed in no small part to actress Carey Mulligan who exhibits great intelligence and depth as the adorable, wide-eyed school girl Jenny, brimming with promise and driven by an insatiable appetite for more.
Her character's journey is as entertaining as it is endearing. Jenny helps herself to a full serving of life and eye-opening reality, and the viewer feels both engaged and invested in her every step along the way.
Mulligan also has great support from standout performances by the likes of Emma Thompson (the incomparable), Alfred Molina, Peter Sarsgaard, Dominic Cooper, and Olivia Williams.
