The actors portray this film in a very convincing manner. Unfortunately, they aren't really given enough to work with for it to be entirely believable.
I feel like the movie would have been a lot more powerful/resonating if Hornby hadn't opted for a typical Hollywood "everything went better than expected!" ending.
