Review of An American Werewolf in Paris (1997) by Mike L — 28 Nov 2008
This movie is great whether you wanna compare it to the original or not. It has the 90's teen-horror vibe to it with a cliche soundtrack featuring Smash Mouth - "Walkin on the Sun" and "Mouth" from Bush... but it cheapens the movie very little and if anything takes points away from the movie its the sometimes amaturish CGI effects used (which werent horrible for the time).
Overall, this movie is hilarious, and intentionally so. The film makers put together many slapstick gags that made me laugh out loud a few times throughout the movie. Gore isn't as graphic as AWIL, but it still exists. The main actor looks similar to the main character of the original movie. The whole movie has the same vibe as the original but it just a little buffed up for 1997... haha. Basically, what doesnt work for this film is fully excusable because this movie has so much cool stuff going on, you can forgive it's mistakes.
