Review of An American Werewolf in London (1981) by James R — 12 Aug 2010
How does a movie manage to be scary and funny, without being another godawful spoof movie?
I don't know, but John Landis did, as shown in "An American Werewolf In London".
The dialogue is funny, the werewolf transformation scene is nerve shreddingly brilliant. The werewolf-Nazi dream sequence is brutal, and the make up, I have to talk about the make up.
It is brilliant. Look at zombie Jack when he first appears, all mutilated and such. So good, the oscars made a category specifically for make-up. gotta love that reasoning.
Kudos for John Landis, making a film as brilliant as this. If only you got to make a sequel, but instead we got "..In Paris". Oh well, at least we have this piece of brilliance.
