Review of An American Werewolf in London (1981) by Tim R — 28 Dec 2010
I really want to like this film more but as good as the set up is, as great as the werewolf effects and creature design are the execution just underwhelmed me. This could have been a great tragi-comedy horror film but it needed more time to explore the curse and the characters.
The ghosts of werewolf victims haunting David was a nice twist but the nightmare aspect is a waste taking up time but not furthering the characters or even having a pay off. Probably the biggest let down is that the transformation was probably the scariest part of the beast, his reign of terror needed more time to build.
There is a lot to like about this movie but there is way to much fluff and wasted time to be more than an OK movie.
