Review of An American Werewolf in London (1981) by John H — 17 Jan 2012
One of the great horror comedies John Landis' film still holds up remarkably well after 30 years.Excellently written and directed by Landis it manages to very successfully blend horror and comedy, something that is not easy to do.
David Naughton is very good in the lead and he gets sterling support from Jenny Agutter and Griffin Dunne. The make up and visual effects in the film are of course legendary and with good reason, they are absolutley astounding.
The big transformation sequence is absolutely incredible and to this day ranks as one of the two best werewolf transformation scenes onscreen (the other being in Joe Dante's THE HOWLING).Any self respecting horror fan who hasn't seen this film has to,simple as.
Fantastic stuff.
