Review of An American Werewolf in London (1981) by Danny R — 29 Nov 2015
John Landis' cult-classic horror motion picture which has some wicked dark humor and is as amusing as it scary. It tells the tale of two young American college students, David Kessler and Jack Goodman wonderfully played by David Naughton and Griffin Dunne, who are on a walking tour of England, they are attacked by a furious werewolf while walking on the moors, with terrifying results, David wakes up in a hospital and is told by the police that his friend is dead, and that they were both attacked by an escape maniac who was shoot and killed by the local town's people.
David begins to have awful nightmares, and then he starts seeing his dead friend Jack, who tells him that he must commit suicide or he will become a murderous werewolf himself. Dynamite direction by Landis, with fine supporting performances by Jenny Agutter, John Woodvine, and Brian Glover, and truly impressive Oscar winning makeup by Rick Baker.
Highly Recommended.
