Review of An American Werewolf in London (1981) by Terra D — 21 Oct 2011
Penultimate werewolf movie against which I gauge all others. I consider this the great-uncle of horror-comedy genre like Shawn of the Dead (Evil Dead would have to be the grandfather). Character and plot development are not much sacrificed to the special effects, which were cutting edge, and in my opinion, far superior to CGI, which is why American Werewolf in Paris didn't do it for me.
Besides, this movie cemented David Naughton as an icon, and beat the heck out of his career in advertising. Wouldn't you like to be a pepper too? :).
