Review of An American Werewolf in London (1981) by Jesse Z — 29 Oct 2010
*** out of 4 stars.
This film is not as good as Wolfen, which also came out in the same year. I would have liked to see more of the relationship between David Naughton and Jeyy Agutter. Since we know that the curse can only be lifted by the death of David's character, there is not much suspence as we wait for the ending. The film's scares basically come from werewolf attacks on random victims. The make up is well done but in many of the scenes we hardly get to see the entire creature (except for a spectacular transformatino scene and the final confrontations near the end).
