Review of An American Werewolf in London (1981) by The Critic ( — 05 Apr 2012
With John Landis at the helm and Rick Baker taking care of the special make-up effects, it's of little surprise that this is an enduring, funny, scary, and visually impressive film that hits the mark.
All-American golden boy David Naughton is excellent as the title beast with a conscience, delivering a performance that keeps him accessible, and the signature scene in which he first transforms into a wolf is not only a testament to Baker's effects, but to Naughtion's ability to covey pain and confusion.
