Review of An American Tail: Fievel Goes West (1991) by Elmyra D — 21 Jul 2008
Not quite as heartwarming as the original, this one deals more with courage than family it seems. The big city must have taught Fievel a big lesson, as he is a good deal more brave in this sequel to "An American Tail.
" The creators obviously wanted this movie to have a different feel than the last one, so they had the Mousekewitz family move to the dry west, along with other mice who so foolishly believe that out in the west, there is no warring between cats and mice.
With Jimmy Stewart acting and Dom Deluise making a return, the voice acting is not too shabby. The songs are more lively in this movie and also pretty memorable, so for a sequel, this isn't bad at all.
It's just that this movie tends to favor humor rather than heart, unlike its predecessor. Still recommended.
