Review of An American Tail: Fievel Goes West (1991) by Matt R — 25 Sep 2010
This was one of my favorite animated movies growing up. I loved all the Westerns my dad would watch and I felt like maybe this was a Western all for me. 'An American Tail: Fievel Goes West' is the second installment of the 'American Tai'l series and I think is the best.
In this story, Fievel and his family decide to head west in the hopes of starting fresh out there and getting to finally live the American dream. The only problem is that the cats have something up their sleeves and Fievel must unravel their plot before it's too late.
I think it was hard for animated pictures that weren't made by a man named Disney to flourish during the 90's when so many of Disney's top movies came out. In some way, I preferred many of the other companies that dared to challenge Disney's Monopoly.
Movies like the 'American Tai'l series, 'The Land Before Time', 'Ferngully', 'All Dogs Go To Heaven', 'We're Back', and 'Rock-a-Doodle'. I think if you're looking for something fun and wholesome to show your kids that you know won't have anything inappropriate in it, then definitely check out any of these fine gems that I grew up loving.
