Review of An American Tail (1986) by Adam F — 12 Feb 2013
Too frightening, depressing and complicated for young viewers and without enough bite for older children and adults, 'An American Tail' suffers because it is too subtle in it's portrayal of Jewish persecution in Russia and America.
The animation and character designs by Don Bluth are really the only saving graces to a film that has a very bland main character, but it's pretty harmless so it's worth a watch, just not a high recommendation.
