Review of An American in Paris (1951) by John B — 20 Jul 2007
Many of the musicals of the 50s started flowing into one another so I had to really think about how this film is different than Gigi or another Leslie Caron film. Its cute no doubt but certainly not profound.
I still find Gene Kelly's meaningless routine just before the film's conclusion to be a little puzzling. Did the filming time run short??
