Review of An American in Paris (1951) by Brooke S — 24 May 2008
Although I like paris, musicals, vincente minnelli, and at times gene kelly, this wasn't one of those times. I really didn't like kelly in this one and it's painfully obvious that this is a movie choreographed by him {i.e. the fifteen minute dance number near the end} this is leslie caron's first film and she is cute and french...kelly ruins her.
I'd actually rather see this done as a non musical because I still like the story. there is one song however that's quite a classic because of this film.
