Review of An American in Paris (1951) by Gwen D — 29 Jul 2008
This film has Kelly and Donen's direction stamped all over it - thank goodness. The ballet at the end of the film with a revised score of Rhapsody in Blue by Gershwin himself is just magical. Leslie Caron again gets to show what a wonderful dancer she was.
The only reason I did not give this film 5 stars was due to the rather sloppy story line which is actually rather boring. It is the musical numbers that saves this film.
