Review of An American Haunting (2005) by Emy I — 05 Mar 2012
This movie is not a horror movie in the typical sense. Watch it through the eyes of a young girl who has been raped. It is damn scary. Donald Sutherland plays a convincingly creepy dad, and Rachel Hurd-Wood is a very believable victim of incest.
This is what PTSD looks like. Don't watch it as though it were a "scary movie" and expect to be shocked by gore. Be shocked by the idea of the domestic issues--it's subtly terrifying--the way a real horror movie works.
I know...Thinking...OUCH!
